FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Pre-Order Pass

What is the Pre-Order Pass?

The Pre-Order Pass is a process which allows you to be the first in line to buy certain new products (the “eligible products”) sooner than they are available to the general public. Upon purchase of the Pre-Order Pass, you will receive an eGift card that, like any other Dell gift card, can be spent on any Dell.com purchase. In addition, the Pre-Order Pass guarantees you a call from a US based Dell sales agent prior to the eligible product being offered publicly on Dell.com. You will have the option to purchase the eligible product at that time and can apply the Pre-Order Pass eGift card value to the purchase (the value is the amount you paid for the Pre-Order Pass eGift card).

Does it obligate me to purchase the eligible product?

No. The Pre-Order Pass is in no way an obligation to buy the eligible product. If you decide not to purchase the eligible product, simply tell the sales agent you changed your mind. You can still use the value of the eGift card on any Dell.com purchase.

Does this guarantee I am first to receive the eligible product?

Purchase of a Pre-Order Pass is not a purchase of the eligible product. Purchase of a Pre-Order Pass guarantees a call from a US based Dell sales agent when the eligible product becomes available, at which time you will have the option to purchase the product. Pre-Order Pass orders are the first orders placed for the eligible product. As with any product, unforeseen circumstances could significantly delay or prevent sales of the eligible product. If this occurs, Dell will notify you, and you will still be able to use the value of the Pre-Order Pass eGift card toward the purchase of any other item on Dell.com.

Can I purchase the system after it is publicly available?

If sales cannot reach you after four attempts, or you decline to purchase the eligible product when contacted, you will no longer be guaranteed to be one of the first people to purchase the eligible product. After a product is publicly available, a Pre-Order Pass eGift card can still be applied toward the purchase of the eligible product, but only if the eligible product is still available.

What can I spend the Pre-Order Pass eGift card on?

The Pre-Order Pass eGift card is a digital gift card and, like any other Dell gift card, can be applied to any purchase on Dell.com. The value of the Pre-Order Pass eGift card can also be applied to the eligible product order if so desired.

When should I expect a call from the Dell sales team?

Pre-Order Pass customers will be contacted by a US based Dell sales agent up to 5 days prior to the public release date of the eligible product. The actual day of the call will be unknown and if you are not reached on the first attempt, the sales agents will try again up to 3 times. The estimated public release date of the eligible product will be included in your email confirmation upon purchase of the Pre-Order Pass.

Can I change the configuration of the eligible product?

You will only be able to change the memory amount and storage options from the system configuration listed in the Pre-Order Pass. These changes can be made at the time of purchase with the US based sales agent who contacts you to place the order.

What products does the Pre-Order Pass guarantee I can purchase early when available?

Only the systems and configurations listed in your Pre-Order Pass confirmation email are eligible. The value of the eGift card can be applied to any Dell.com purchase, but the Pre-Order Pass does not guarantee you will be first in line to order any product other than the eligible product.

Can I change the value of my Pre-Order Pass?

No. The value of the Pre-Order Pass is not able to be changed.

What happens after I purchase the eligible product?

Once your order of an eligible product is placed, your order will be processed like any other Dell purchase. Standard order related email communications will give you updates on your purchase and delivery dates.

What if someone makes a copy of my printed eGift Card?

Our state of the art technology inhibits fraud, but you must safeguard your eGift Card for your own protection. If someone makes a copy of your Gift Card and redeems it for the full amount, your copy will have no value. No matter how many copies are made, the value of the eGift Card is tied to the Gift Card number. When that number is used, the value of the purchase is deducted from the eGift Card.
